Peer Support Groups
Our Peer Support Groups are designed to create safe community circles where members can share, learn, and grow.
We offer three peer support groups
2SLGBTQIA+ Spoonie Support Circle
“Looking?” - Queer BIPOC Support Hangout
2SLGBTQIA+ Spoonie Support Circle
Join Islai for low-key community hangs, engage in peer support in facilitated conversations on topics brought forth by participants, and meet other spoonies! This support circle offers a low barrier space for spoonies to engage in community care.
Who is it for?
This circle is open to all “spoonies” - anyone who experiences physical or mental health disabilities or chronic illnesses.
How to attend:
The support circle takes place on the 4th Sunday of each month from 2:30-4:30pm at The Cache in Whitehorse, or on zoom.
Location: #10-4230 4th Ave, Whitehorse YT (entrance on Baxter St.)
To register and to receive the zoom link, please email islairhysrathlin@gmail.com
About the peer facilitator
Our organizer, Islai (eye-lah), is a Queer, Trans Non-Binary (they/them), neurodiverse spoonie dedicated to community care. They are at the helm of Islai Rathlin Counselling and Community Care supporting folks with non-normative experiences (2SLGBTQ+, neurodiversity, non-normative relationship and family configurations, Kink, BDSM, accommodated sex therapy, and folks who identify as having disabilities or chronic illnesses). Islai is passionate about helping folks access appropriate resources, and they strategize like a boss.
Looking? - Queer BIPOC Support Hangout
Our newest peer support group is an opportunity for Queer BIPOC folks to come together and connect over shared experiences and snacks! This group will evolve and develop depending on the needs and hopes of attendees.
Who is it for?
This group is for 2SLGBTQIA+ BIPOC folks.
How to attend:
This group gathers once a month, on the last Thursday of each month from 7:30-8:30pm at The Cache in Whitehorse.
Location: #10-4230 4th Ave, Whitehorse YT (entrance on Baxter St.)
