BBQ & POST PARADE FESTIVITIES

Saturday, August 3rd Rotary Park 2:30 - 5pm

Free Community BBQ! Join us for a delightful afternoon filled with a variety of food options, including delicious meat and vegetarian burgers and hot dogs. There will be a range of fun activities available for everyone to enjoy, such as a playground, splash pad, volleyball games, face painting, and more. Come and make the most of this fantastic gathering in the company of friends and neighbours!

QUEER SEWING SOCIAL & MEDICINE BAG WORKSHOP (Youth Under 30 Only)

Sunday, August 4th Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre; Artist Lounge 1 - 4pm

This workshop for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth is intended to be a fun, casual, social time where youth can craft together and build community!

Materials for beading and medicine bag making will be provided, and participants will be guided by Adanchilla Pauls Lepine and Cailyn Fraser-Harris!

Priority spots will be given to Two Spirit and Indigiqueer youth, but all queer youth under 30 are welcome to sign up! Snacks and refreshments will be provided. This event is free to join! Sign up through the link below.

GENERATIONS OF KIN; A FIRESIDE CHAT

Tuesday, August 6th Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre - Fire Pit 6-8:30pm

Moderated discussion seeking to amplify voices of Two-Spirit & Indigiqueer youth, elders and allies. Possible topics include: chosen family, kinship networks, survivance, joy. Bannock will be provided thanks to the KDCC.

QUEERS N’ BEERS (WITH DRAG BINGO!) (19+)

Thursday, August 1st Winterlong Brewing Co. 5 - 9pm

DRAG BINGO (see: Loteria ) will be happening at Winterlong! This exciting event will showcase a gathering of queer friends enjoying a night filled with laughter, games, and the chance to win some delightful prizes! Join the fabulous Miss Juwanna deWitt as she hosts a round of Loteria, beginning at 6pm.

CHOSEN FAMILY FUNCTION; DRAG SHOW & DANCE PARTY (19+)

Saturday, August 3rd Elks Lodge 8pm - 1am

Join us for a fabulous drag show and dance party in Whitehorse! Featuring local and visiting drag performers such as Miss Juwanna deWitt and Midnight Wolverine. DJ she/they will start spinning tunes at midnight. Doors open at 8pm.

Presented by Northern Vision Development, 96.1fm The Rush, and Air North.

DRAG HANG WITH LAU D’ARTA & “ON BECOMING” PRESENTATION BY BRIAN COPE

Sunday, August 4th The Cache, 4230 4th Ave (door on Baxter St.) 3 - 7pm

Drag Hang is a vibrant event happening from 3 - 6pm. Attendees can experiment with drag make-up and explore the assortment of outfits in our tickle trunk alongside local hunk Lau D’Arta! Moreover, the art installation by Dan d’Entremont from the Queer Love Letters Project adds another layer of creativity to the atmosphere. Following this, from 6 - 7pm, renowned storyteller and queer elder, Brian Cope, will grace the gathering with his presence, sharing his inspiring journey of coming out later in life, maintaining sobriety, and embracing the art of drag.

FASHION FAM: ALL AGES RUNWAY SHOW & DANCE PARTY

Thursday, August 8th Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre - Multipurpose Room 7 - 11pm

Join us for this youth, Two-Spirit, and Indigiqueer centered event on August 8th from 7 - 11pm at the KDCC. Local youth will walk the runway in a "category" of their choosing to affirm, explore, and celebrate aspects of their identity, with supportive judges cheering them on! Participants can opt to wear regalia or any other garment of their choosing. The show will be interspersed with exciting drag performances and will be followed by an all ages dance party! Want to walk the runway? Sign up in advance to let us know your performance idea and song choice. Youth participants get into the show for free and can have up to 5 family members attend for free!

PRIDE PARADE

Saturday, August 3rd United Church 1:30 - 2:30pm

Tentative: The Pride Parade will start at United Church on Main Street. Folks can watch the parade from along the route. We will have an accessible viewing area located on the corner of Main Street and 2nd Avenue. Community is invited to join the BBQ and family friendly pride fesitivities in Rotary Park from 2:30-5pm after the parade.

PRIDE PADDLE

Sunday, August 4th

Up North Adventures - Takhini River Bridge 12 - 4pm

The Pride Paddle is back! This is a fun opportunity to experience a piece of the Yukon River with other 2SLGBTQIA+ paddlers and allies! The theme of the paddle is Pride Sparkle! Bring your flags, eco-friendly glitter, and best pride paddling outfit.

We have 7 canoes and shuttle space for 14 people available for free on a first come first served basis. Please email whitehorsepride@queeryukon.com to reserve your spot!

If not in a reserved shuttle spot, participants are required to set up their own shuttle. We will meet at Up North Adventures at 12, and start paddling at 12:30. The paddle ends at Takhini River Bridge at approximately 4pm.

Gear list: pfd, snacks, water, sunscreen/sun protection, dry bag for extra clothes and phone, keys for shuttle(!!)

STEPPING INTO YOUR POWER WORKSHOP (Youth Under 30 Only)

Monday, August 5th The Cache, 4230 4th Ave (door on Baxter St.) 4 - 6:30pm

Workshop led by T'áncháy Redvers; Steping Into Your Power is an embodied and creative exploration of what it means to step into your queer power. We'll get creative and build confidence through learning the basics of stage presence. Focus on intergenerationality- emphasis on youth and elder voices and giving them/encouraging the taking back of space. Intention to prepare those wishing to partake in Fireside Chat and/or Runway Show through confidence building- public speaking skills, advice for how to take up space, and runway performance tips.

Accessibility note: we'll be dancing and moving around the space and accommodations can be provided.
