Honouring Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ Awareness to Celebration Day
Today, on the spring equinox, we unite to recognize Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ Awareness to Celebration Day—a time to honour and uplift Two-Spirit, trans, and non-binary Indigenous people and communities. The spring equinox is considered a time of meaningful change and celebration of new beginnings, renewal of collaborations, equity, and brightness. As the season shifts to summer’s warmth and we look forward to welcoming the midnight sun, it reminds us of the importance of renewal, balance, embracing transformation and moving forward in a good way.
At a time when many in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community are facing challenges, we hold space for love, strength, and resilience. This day is an opportunity to celebrate the richness of Two-Spirit identities, reflect on the importance of inclusion for all, and commit to fostering a future where everyone is welcome for who they are.
Let us honour this day with kindness, connection, and a shared commitment to equity and belonging.
Warm Regards,
The Queer Yukon Society Board of Directors
