Dawson City Community Space

The Queer Yukon Dawson team offers a cozy-comfy-fun space at the DCMF building on the corner of 3rd and Harper. During drop-in hours on Wednesdays from 1-7pm we serve comfort food, play games, make art and crafts, talk, play music, host information sessions, watch movies, share resources, and more!

Come see what all the fun is about!

This and other Dawson City programs are currently on pause as we recharge and reflect on how best to serve our community.

Please email info@queeryukon.com with any questions or contact us here if you’re interested in participating in our future vision planning for Dawson City QYS.

Check back for updates later this year.

How to visit our Drop-In Space

Drop-in Hours: Every Wednesday from 1:00-7:00 pm *currently paused*

Address: 802 Third Ave - DCMF Building

Some of the programs and services we offer in Dawson City through our space include:

Yukon Gender Gear Program
Queer Yukon distributes gender gear to all communities in the Yukon, including Dawson City! Our gender gear products include various compression garments and prosthetics used to modify the appearance of your body such as binders, breast forms, trans tape, gaffs, and packers.

Want to know more about what types of gear are available and which might be the right one for you? Visit us during drop-in hours!

Tool Library
The Dawson Tool Library is a small community-based tool library available to everyone. With a focus on reducing barriers for Northern 2SLGBTQIAP+ individuals and families, the Dawson Tool Library offers a zero-cost way to borrow tools ranging from power tools to drywall repair kits to chimney brushes and more. Selection is small, so please check in with QYS staff as you plan a project. You can pickup and drop off tools at our weekly during our drop-in hours or by appointment with calhoun@queeryukon.com.

Harm Reduction
Harm reduction supplies and education are available during drop-in hours on Wednesdays from 1-7pm or by appointment. Contact jules@queeryukon.com to make an appointment.

Community Dinners
Hosted from 4pm-8pm on the last Saturday of every month, the Queer Yukon Community Dinner is a way to share healthy food and space with your community. Drop by for some free food that respects many dietary restrictions in a relaxing and respectful atmosphere. We offer takeout in case you're busy or you're not feeling social. A Peer Support Human will be present at each event to answer questions and help with your needs and comfort. A selection of information, Direct Aid items, gender gear, and resources are available plus occasional guest speakers and performers.

Thanks to our partners, we host these events at either Ałät Nëhëjël (TH Hall) or Dënäkär Zho (KIAC Ballroom). Keep an eye on our social media or look out for posters around town to where we are holding our monthly dinner. If you have questions, accessibility needs, or would like to volunteer, please email calhoun@queeryukon.com.

Direct Aid
Our Direct Aid program provides essentials like soap, candles, toques, and grocery gift cards. Distributed at our weekly drop-in hours and at our Community Dinner events, this program is meant to support 2SLGBTQIA+ community members experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. To discreetly connect with our Direct Aid services, please email jules@queeryukon.com.
